Divine Liturgy – every Sunday starting at 9:30AM (for the feast days – Holydays please check with our priest)
If you are not familiar with "Orthodox Christianity" or the doctrines, beliefs, traditions and teachings, you shouldn’t be surprised to know that Orthodox Christianity predates denominations. The Orthodox Church is the oldest Christian Church on earth; it is the "one, holy, catholic, and apostolic" Church established by Jesus Christ and His Apostle!(Check you denomination origin here) To worship God in an Orthodox church is to know what worshiping God was like for the earliest Christians. The early Church's Holy Tradition, the Apostolic Faith: theology, spirituality, and worship, has been passed on down through the ages and is still preserved today in the Orthodox Church. Our Sunday Service is called the Divine Liturgy, since it comes from God, the Holy Spirit. It is an earthly manifestation of the worship of God in Heaven (see Isa. 6 and Rev 4 - 5).
Every Sunday morning at the Divine Liturgy, Holy Communion is served by the priest to Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves. Holy Communion is one of many Holy Mysteries (i.e. Sacraments) participated in by Orthodox Christians. Everyone is welcome to attend the Divine Liturgy. However, in order to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion in an Orthodox church, one must first be baptized and chrismated an Orthodox Christian. Baptism and Chrismation are two more of the Holy Mysteries of the Orthodox Church which unite a person to Christ, making them living members of His Body, the Church.
If you are curious to learn more about the Orthodox Faith, please check About Orthodox Christianity section, you will find many simple explanations of what Orthodox Christians believe and why.
The best way to get to know Christian Orthodoxy is to "come and see."
If you have any questions about visiting our parish or about Orthodox beliefs, you may contact our priest, Father Radovan Petrovic. He would be more than happy to answer your questions. We're glad you found us! We look forward to meeting you in person someday soon!
